Size and display (Galaxy leads):

These two watches have smooth round designs with buttons on the sides, vibrant screens, and changeable bands. Yet, they are different in certain ways. The Pixel Watch has a unique glass dome on top that gives it a 3D look. It has a clear and bright screen with a special feature that adjusts the brightness automatically. On the other hand, the Galaxy watch 6 has a flat-screen with strong sapphire glass and an even better display quality. It’s a Super AMOLED display with high resolution.

Galaxy Watch 6 vs Google Pixel Watch 2. display and size comparison

There is no significant change in the upcoming generation of the Google Pixel smartwatch. The display is going to be circular as it was in Pixel 1, and the small size will also be the same of around 41mm which seems to be ordinary as compared to Galaxy Watch 6 and 6 classic. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic comes in two major sizes: 43mm and 47mm. Interestingly, the 47mm model seems smaller when you wear it compared to its size on paper.

Manufacturing material:

In terms of manufacturing, there is one major difference in Galaxy 6 which is the use of sapphire along with aluminum, which seems to be stronger than mere aluminum. Besides, there is no change in the manufacturing of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Google Pixel Watch 2.

Galaxy’s rotating edge:

The rotating edge of the Galaxy Watch 6 helps to navigate, meanwhile, the Pixel watch 2 demands traditional swiping on the screen.

Buttons:

Coming to their button, the Pixel Watch has a digital crown or you can say a spinning button and another button on top. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 has two buttons on the side.

There is a sensor on the back of both watches to measure the heart rate.

Elegant display:

Likewise, both the devices are elegant, yet the Pixel 2 has a curve edge meanwhile the Galaxy owns a rotating display, which is quite unique, and its edges around the screen are a bit thicker. To get more vibrant colors, the Pixel Watch has options like gold, silver, gray, and black. On the other hand, Samsung’s watches come in a few colors, and for the Galaxy Watch 6, the options are limited, depending upon its size. The regular one is gray, but the smaller 40mm one comes in gold, meanwhile, the larger 44mm one comes in silver. The Galaxy Watch 6 classic version comes in black color.

Features and sensors comparison (Pixel leads):

Samsung’s lineup has some advanced sensors that are missing in the Google Pixel Watch. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 can measure things like body composition, skin temperature, irregular heart rhythm alerts, and blood pressure, which the Google Pixel Watch can’t do. Yet, there is an inconvenience you cannot use the EKG feature if you do not own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Google Pixel and Galaxxy watch sensors and features

On the other hand, the Google Pixel Watch features a benefit more than the Galaxy in the sense of fitness tracking feature that is supported by Fitbit. Your workouts are tracked in the Fitbit app, and this integration with Fitbit provides FDA-approved EKGs, along with excellent sleep tracking and stress management tools. Unlike Samsung’s wearables, you also get better monitoring of your recovery with Fitbit’s Daily Readiness Score and Active Zone Minutes.

The Pixel Watch also checks various factors like sweat levels, heart rate, skin temperature, and sleep data. If it notices any sudden changes through its algorithm, it alerts you about potential stress. Another upcoming feature for the Pixel Watch 2 is coaching, which will help you achieve your fitness goals. Whether this will be a part of Fitbit Premium or free is still unknown.

Additionally, the Pixel Watch 2 is anticipated to come with a new cEDA sensor for continuous electrodermal activity, which helps track stress.

Software comparison (Galaxy leads):

Talking about software, the Galaxy Watch 6 is the winner here, which isn’t surprising because the Pixel Watch is older. One of the surprising things about the Galaxy watch is that it only works with the Galaxy system (as we have discussed earlier). On the other hand, features offered by Pixel Watch 2 are useable through any Android device having Android version 11 or higher.

OS version:

The Google Pixel Watch 2 is using Wear OS 3.5, meanwhile, the Galaxy 6 acquires Wear OS 4 with Samsung’s One UI. But, the way they look on the screen is different. Samsung has its own OneUI 5 Watch style, and Google has its own design.

The Pixel Watch 2 will come out with some new watch faces that show more information on the screen. We like that they’re making the screen more informative.

Even though the Galaxy Watch is more polished, it often shows more data on the screen, and you can tap to see even more information. But with the Pixel Watch 2, you’ll need to open the Fitbit app more frequently to see your information.

Battery Comparison: (still not confirmed):

The first Pixel Watch didn’t last long on a single charge, so Google aimed to fix this by making the battery a bit bigger and improving how the software runs. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is similar in battery size to the smaller Pixel Watch models. But the larger 47mm Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has a much bigger battery than the Pixel Watch. According to Samsung, their Galaxy Watch 6 can last around two days on a full charge, but we haven’t tested this yet. Google says the Pixel Watch only lasts for one day. Our testing showed that the Pixel Watch’s battery doesn’t hold up well with normal use, especially if you keep the always-on display On. But there’s hope that the upcoming Wear OS 4 update might make the Pixel Watch’s battery life better.

Charging method:

The Pixel Watch 2 generation might use the same way to charge as the first one. This is a bit disappointing because the first watch’s magnetic connection for charging was not very strong. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic charges more easily. You can place it flat on a tabel (unlike the Pixel Watch, which is raised due to its band design), and the magnetic connection with its charger is stronger.

Processor comparison:

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 series comes with a new processor called the Exynos W930 Dual-Core 1.4GHz processor. On the other hand, the Google Pixel Watch 2 uses an older processor called the Exynos 9110. From our experience, the Pixel Watch worked decently fast but had some problems. It’s likely that the Galaxy Watch 6 is faster, although we haven’t made a final judgment yet.

Price comparison; Galaxy Watch 6 vs Google Pixel Watch 2

Most probably Google is not going to increase its price for the upcoming generation. So, we can expect it between 350$ to 400$. Last year, google gifted many watches to their customers who bought Google Pixel smartphones and this year we are expecting the same. The Pixel Watch costs a little less than the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic starts at $400 for the version that uses Wi-Fi and $450 for the one with cellular. But the Galaxy Watch 6 starts at $300, and the only difference between them is the spinning edge.
