If you’ve seen the design of the OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 12 continues in the same direction. It adopts a design approach influenced by luxury watches, featuring a “starry dial” as the circular rear camera element, symbolizing the passage of time.

From a practical standpoint, the OnePlus 12 boasts a unique look, especially with its rear camera module. You can easily spot it in a group of flagship phones with similar specs. The ‘Flowy Emerald’ signature color adds to its distinctive appearance, and you can also get it in classic black or white. The design, particularly the rear camera setup, sets it apart from the crowd. If you prefer a non-shiny look for your phone, opt for the black version. While OnePlus typically goes for black and green, this year, they’ve introduced a glossy white model. But I will go with blue-green glass as seen in the picture above.

In late November, OnePlus gave us a sneak peek at the upcoming OnePlus 12 by sharing official pictures. You can clearly see how One Plus 12 looks in your hands. Check out the above picture, you will get a glimpse of a decent look. Although, the 90 percent of One Plus 12 looks like its predecessor, however, the notable change is the Alert Slider shifting from the right side to the left side of the phone.

The new phone comes with an IP65 certification, indicating improved water resistance compared to the previous model. However, it falls a bit short when measured against competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of certification.

Returning to the display, the OnePlus 12 features a 6.8-inch screen and a smooth 120Hz OLED panel. The brightness is now at its peak, almost double the previous 1300 nits we have experienced in One Plus 11. 2600 nits brightness of the One Plus 12 is now outshining the Google Pixel 8 Pro’s 2,400 nits but falling a tad short of the OnePlus Open’s impressive 2,800 nits. Nevertheless, it’s gearing up to be one of the brightest displays out there!

Performance/chipset

Confirming a pre-launch detail highlighted at the Chinese launch, the OnePlus 12 operates on the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This translates to a significant boost in performance, a quoted 30% improvement in CPU speeds, a 25% bump in graphics, and a 10% increase in power efficiency. It’s a tech upgrade that promises a faster, more efficient, and visually enhanced user experience. Let’s wait together for January 23rd.

Storage

Experience a memory upgrade like never before! The new LPDDR5X RAM takes the stage, reaching up to 24GB, and it’s coupled with OnePlus’ RAM Vitalization feature. Running on the anticipated Oxygen OS 14, this combo promises a smoother experience. Plus, dive into the vast storage world with up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. While there’s buzz that this high-end memory/storage duo might be exclusive to China, still we are hoping for the best!

Camera

OnePlus is known for shaking things up with their cameras every year, making predictions a bit tricky. However, the upcoming OnePlus 12 might bring a noteworthy camera improvement. Here’s what you are getting this year;

The launch event info suggests that the upcoming OnePlus 12 might feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera. For selfies, there’s a potential 32MP front camera in the mix.

According to a leak in October, the ultrawide lens might be 48MP instead of 50MP. But don’t worry, the main camera and telephoto lens are likely to stay strong at 50MP and 64MP. The telephoto lens might even be the same as the one in the OnePlus Open, offering a 3x optical zoom.

One Plus 12 will come with a Sony Lytia camera?

OnePlus has officially announced that the upcoming OnePlus 12 will come equipped with the latest Sony Lytia camera. This camera adopts the same stacked pixel design seen in the OnePlus Open. What does this mean for you? Well, it allows more light to be captured in every scene, enhancing overall brightness and picture quality without the risk of overexposure. J

And that’s not all! In a continued collaboration, the OnePlus 12 will showcase Hasselblad’s distinctive color science. This ensures that the colors in your photos are not only vibrant but also true to life. Get ready for a smartphone camera experience that combines advanced technology with renowned color expertise!

Software updates

OnePlus faced a significant drop in software quality after teaming up with Oppo. Although the complete merger of OxygenOS and ColorOS was scrapped, both interfaces now use a shared codebase. Despite some lingering issues, OnePlus has been diligently addressing bugs in OxygenOS throughout 2022.

Great news for OnePlus 11 users! The phone now operates on the stable Android 13-based OxygenOS 13, ensuring enhanced performance and reliability. What’s even more promising is OnePlus’ commitment to regular updates, guaranteeing users four major OS updates and a secure five-year coverage for security patches.

When the OnePlus 12 hits the market, it will come with OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14 (note: in China, it runs ColorOS). While you can expect the standard Android 14 features. The good news, though, is that the phone’s software update plan mirrors that of the OnePlus 11, you can count on getting four OS updates after the launch.

Battery specifications

When it comes to the battery, the OnePlus 12 boasts a substantial 5,400mAh power pack, larger than what you find in many other phones. Plus, it’s supported by rapid 100W ‘SuperVOOC‘ wired charging and 50W ‘AirVOOC‘ wireless charging for quick and convenient power-ups. That’s some serious battery firepower!

Besides, charge your device in a flash with the super-fast 100W wired charging, taking it from 0 to 100 percent in just 26 minutes.
